Zenith Shadow Prototype Chronomaster Vintage Chronograph
Zenith Shadow Prototype Chronomaster Vintage Chronograph
We are proud to present here a mysterious Zenith Shadow Prototype from the early 1970s.
Very little is known publicly about this model as it was a prototype design that never went into full production. Very few of these have surfaced on the open market and when they do they command a premium price due to rarity and a design that was well ahead of its time.
The stainless steel coated case measures 41mm wide and is in good honest condition with a few nicks commensurate with age.
Inside beats the Zenith manual winding cal.146 HP. This movement being used adds to the mystery around this model as this was in a period just after the Zenith El Primero automatic chronograph had been released to the world.
Highly regarded Zenith collectors speculate this watch was destined for military use hence the use of the tried and tested sturdy manual winding movement. And at the same time it was a way for the manufacturer to use up old stock of parts in preparation for the El Primero taking over production capacity in the dawn of a new age of watchmaking.
The watch is running well, all functions work correctly, and it is keeping good time within vintage watch timing standards.
To give collectors peace of mind we provide a 1 year mechanical warranty.
