This early 1970s Zenith Shadow Prototype is a scarce and intriguing piece of Zenith history, with very few examples known to have surfaced publicly and a design that feels remarkably ahead of its time.
The 41mm PVD coated stainless steel case wears with honest vintage character, while its bold proportions give it strong wrist presence.
Inside beats the Zenith manual calibre 146 HP manual winding movement. This movement being used adds to the mystery around this model as this was in a period just after the Zenith El Primero automatic chronograph had been released to the world.
Highly regarded Zenith collectors speculate this watch was destined for military use hence the use of the tried and tested sturdy manual winding movement. And at the same time it was a way for the manufacturer to use up old stock of parts in preparation for the El Primero taking over production capacity in the dawn of a new age of watchmaking.
It has been thoroughly inspected by our watchmaker, is fully functioning and keeping good time.
